Mr. Moses Akin Akinniyi -Head, Public Affairs Unit
Moses Akin Akinniyi was born on the 17th June, 1957 into the family of Mr. &MrsAyindeAkinniyi of Akinniyi’s Compound, Oluponna in Aiyedire Local Government Area of Osun State.
He started his primary education at Baptist Day School, Railway Station and completed it at Baptist Day School, Oluponna in 1970. He attended Baptist Academy, Obanikoro – Lagos from where he obtained his WASC and HSC respectively. He graduated from the University of Lagos Akoka with Bachelor of Arts Degree in Linguistics and has since then attended various courses at Professional Accountancy Tutors (PATS) Palm-grove; Treasury Training School, Lagos; Public Service Staff Development Centre in the following courses: Performance Improvement Course on Finance & Accounts; Report & Proposal Writing Skills; Essential Skills in Project Management; Effective Leadership Course; Career Development & Succession Planning; Public Relations Master Class; Effective Media Relations & Communicating Reforms Effectively among others.
He joined the Lagos State Civil Service in 1988 and he has served as an Account Officer in various MDAs such as Office of the Accountant-General, Ministry of Finance, Pension Account Department of Teaching Service Commission and Ministry of Women Affairs & Poverty Alleviation. Following his conversion, he was redeployed to the Ministry of Information & Strategy as an Information Officer and was later put in charge of the Press Room in the Ministry. He was at a time, State Information Officer at the Bariga Local Council Development Area before being moved to the Cabinet Office where headed its Press & Public Relations Unit for 3 years. He was later redeployed to the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) under the Ministry of Science and Technology where he pioneered its Press & Public Relations Unit. He was again moved to the Ministry of Information & Strategy before being posted to the Lagos State Judicial Service Commission heading its Public Affair Unit.
Way back in early eighties, prior to his career in the Civil Service; Akinniyi had been a freelance broadcaster with some broadcasting stations : Radio Lagos, Radio Nigeria and NTA Channel 7, Tejuosho where he presented both news and current affairs programmes. He still presents news occasionally, on Alausa Community Radio; Secretariat Alausa.
He is a member of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).
He is happily married and blessed with lovely children.
