MR. MAHMUD DAWODU -Commission Member

Mahmud Dawodu was born on the 29th day of March, 1965 to the family of AbdulRahoof Adisa Dawodu of Ita-Balogun, Lagos Island; he attended Ansar-Ud -Deen Primary School, Babatunde Street, Surulere and Ansar-Ud-Deen Grammar School, Randle Avenue, Surulere, for both his Primary and Secondary Education, respectively. He later obtained a First Degree in Accountancy and Finance from YabaCollege of Technology in 1991. 

Mahmud had his Youth Service at the Department of Immigration in Owerri, Imo State between 1991 and 1992, after which he joined the Lagos State Post Primary Teaching Service Commission (PPTESCOM) in 1993, after which he joined the services of EkoInternational Bank in 1994, from where he moved to Devcom Merchant Bank as Head of Non-Bank Investments (Treasury) in 1999, between 2000 to 2001, he was in the Société Bancaire, (Merchant Bankers) as Head of Treasury, from where he moved to Platinum Bank, as Head of Public Sector Group in 2001 to 2002. 

Mahmud was head hunted by Indo-Nigeria Merchant Bank to run the Treasury Department and put the Bank on the path of profitability in 2002 and by November 2003, in concert with three other colleagues, they established Infinity Homes (Mortgage Bankers) and by June, 2005, Mahmud moved back to core Banking, by joining Pacific Merchant Bank as Head of Strategy and Business Development, an appointment that took him into the largest consolidated consortium of Banks, the UnityBank Plc, where he Served as the Secretary to the Treasury work stream, (during the consolidation process), Mahmud was thereafter made the Head, Oil and Gas Sector. 

Mahmud left the services of UnityBank in 2009 to establish BishopGate Microfinance Bank, which he ran for two (2) years, from where he joined the Oil and Gas giant, Masters Energy Group, as the Head of Operations and in year 2014, Mahmud moved to Olson Energy as Managing Director/CEO before his nomination and appointment by his Excellency, Governor Babajide Olusola Sawoolu of Lagos State, to join the Lagos State Judicial Service Commission. 

Mahmud served on the Boards of FirstUnion Excel Limited, (Consultants), Eden/BishopGate Microfinance Banks and as a member of the Surulere Executive Secretary Committee of 2015, while he is presently serving on the Board of Lagos State Hockey Association (on pro bono) 

Mahmud has attended many trainings/courses both locally and abroad, these have developed his skills in Leadership, Strategy Development, Analytics, Treasury/Funds Management, Financial/Business Intermediation, Negotiation capabilities, Entrepreneurial Skills Development, Project Management, Business Psychology and Corporate Governance. 

Mahmud is married and blessed with three (3) children.
